AI Ethics
Some simple points on using AI (LLMs, Large Language Models) such as ChatGPT:
- If I'm reading an article and suddenly realize this was written by an AI, I immediately stop reading, and I never read anything by that author again.
- If I see or read some marketing material from a given company and I notice it was generated by AI, I'll never buy any of that company's products again.
- If some online service offers to “help” me by writing a text or “summarizing” an email, I won't use that service ever again.
There may be legitimate uses of “AI”, but writing or “summarizing” text for other people's consumption are not among them. In general, none of the use cases being hyped are good or legitimate use.
In general, the only ethical use of “AI” is: Not using “AI”, or using them for some very few and specific use cases – e.g., spellchecking.
